Theme: Cyber Resilience for Development
Date: 29–30 November 2023 | Location: Accra, Ghana
Campaign background:
The inaugural Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building (GC3B) marked a pivotal moment in the global effort to strengthen digital resilience. Held under the theme “Cyber Resilience for Development”, GC3B convened leaders from governments, international organizations, academia, and the private sector to raise awareness of the urgent need for all nations—regardless of size or resources—to invest in their cyber capabilities. It emphasized collective responsibility and the importance of international cooperation to ensure a free, open, and secure digital future for all.
Approach:
As the Communication Advisor for the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE)—a key partner in organizing the conference—I played an integral role in crafting the communication narrative before, during, and after the event. My responsibilities included developing and managing the GC3B social media calendar, in close coordination with our creative agency and communication partners. This involved planning and executing dynamic, timely content across multiple platforms to amplify the conference’s visibility and global reach.
I worked closely with key stakeholders and agency teams to deliver consistent messaging that aligned with GC3B’s mission. From curating daily posts and live updates to drafting spotlight features and media highlights, I ensured that the event’s momentum resonated with audiences worldwide. I also supported donor communications, ensuring partners and funders were kept engaged and informed with regular updates and targeted messaging.
In the post-conference phase, I contributed to reporting efforts, including drafting segments of the event report and internal briefings. Additionally, I helped compile and design the post-GC3B newsletter, providing a comprehensive wrap-up that showcased key outcomes, highlights, and forward-looking messages for the cyber capacity building community.
GC3B set the foundation for a more coordinated and inclusive approach to cyber capacity development globally. Being part of this historic event and contributing to its communication strategy was both a professional milestone and a reaffirmation of my commitment to using strategic communication as a force for digital development and international collaboration.
